Pick a satin or semi-gloss paint finish for your bathroom ceilings. If you have a half-bath with low moisture and humidity, you can opt for the satin finish if you don’t want to draw too much attention overhead.

Vinegar. Hydrogen peroxide. Keep in mind that you’ll also, of course, be needing paintbrushes and paint rollers (about $10-$20 depending on the quality). I have painted the freshly plastered bathroom ceiling with Dulux bathroom paint that is meant to be moist and mould resistant. I bought this paint a couple of years ago, so it is not one of the latest products. Five months later the paint is slightly flaky in places. There are three people in the household and we take the showers daily.

Personally though, I think a flat paint sheen looks boring on most ceilings. Using a flat sheen on ceilings gives them a dull finish that can darken the feel of a room. I always feel like a flat sheen on a ceiling makes the ceiling feel lower and looks unfinished too. Which is a shame.
