Yes, the microfiber itself is soft, but the mat lacks any kind of cushion. In addition to it not having the cushion you'd expect, it feels like it has somewhat hard areas under my feet. Also, the mat does not contain BacLock, which Norwex puts into most of its other microfiber bath products to inhibit bacterial growth.

This so-called "bath mat" is just a thicker and denser Norwex microfiber towel made of the exact same 70% Polyester and 30% Polyamide as the Norwex bath towels. The Norwex bath towels, however, also have what Norwex calls "BacLock" (which they say is silver that makes the towels antibacterial). But for some reason, Norwex decided not to put this same BacLock in what they're selling as bath mats, even though the bath mats are as expensive as the larger bath towels.
